In a recent study in the Journal of Marketing Communications, researchers discovered that people tended to perceive men with beards as more trustworthy than those who were clean-shaven. The study was run by presenting a group of participants with two sets of pictures. One set featured men endorsing products with clean, medium-length beards. The other set featured the same men, but this time they were clean-shaven.
One of the most inspirational speeches in recorded history was given by a silent comedian by the name of Charlie Chaplin in the film, The Great Dictator. This timeless, brilliant and heartrending final speech performed over 70 years ago speaks true for our world today.
When someone is capable of stirring internet commotion with something like poetry, you know it has to be special. This is Neil Hilborn performing “OCD” during the Individual Finals at the 2013 Rustbelt Regional Poetry Slam.
After someone posted the video on Reddit it quickly rose to the top, and people started discussing it in the chatroom.
To everyone’s surprise, Neil showed up to answer a few questions. He confirmed that he does indeed suffer from Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder and has undergone extensive therapy over the years. The poem, although written over two years before the actual performance, is based on a true story. The girl in question has heard it, and that led to them getting back together, on-and-off, before Neil finally decided to call it quits.
Neil later admitted that he has, in fact, found true love since then and is in a good place now.
How the smallest decisions that you would otherwise forget existed after a few days could actually have turned your life into an entirely new direction.
